Chuck D on Swing Lowe Sweet Chariote: "I'm still stunned at how compelled the audience was the first time I saw Swing Lowe Sweet Chariote, especially for an indie film. I've had the pleasure of working on many films through the years, usually in a musical capacity, but I've never seen such excitement for an urban film like this."
Swing Low Sweet Chariot Synopsis:
On the eve of graduating top of her class in high school, Chariote Lowe witnesses the unthinkable: the cold blooded murder of her best friend Shannon. The shock of this horrible event splits her psyche between trying to maintain the positive environment in which her grandmother has provided and the dangers that await her in the streets. To complicate matters further, Chariote finds herself attracted to Ace, a powerful local drug dealer, who introduces her to more and more violence in the criminal underworld.
Based on the novel by celebrated Cleveland author Stella Hall, Swing Lowe Sweet Chariote is an exciting coming of age story unlike any other. It contrasts the brutal realities of inner city street life with the struggles of maintaining a family, all from the perspective of a young, African-American woman.
About HWIC Filmworks:
HWIC Filmworks, is a Cleveland-based independent video production company founded in 2008 by cousins John Delserone and David C. Snyder. This duo has been making movies since the tender ages of 9 and 12 years old respectively. They developed a passion for film and video at this very young age and managed to do what very few people are able to, stick with their passion from childhood and succeed.
Obviously, a lot has changed in the video world since 1988, and Dave no longer edits on two VCR’s. However, one thing has remained constant, and that is a mission to make nothing but remarkable film and video work. This philosophy has enabled them to work with the likes of 2013 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Public Enemy, DMC (Run-DMC), as well as top Integrative Medical Doctor Ronald Casselberry M.D. and many more celebrities and influential people throughout the world.
They’ve won numerous awards for their music videos, as well as their short and feature-length films. CEO John Delserone says, “In short, our mission is simple: That our name only appears on videos that meet our high standard of superior quality.”
