The Residents
Please Do Not Steal It!
Repress of the extremely limited promo only 1979 LP pressed for college radio.
In 1979 The Residents were just starting to gather a bit of attention. The New Wave fad was getting into high fashion and the main way information about new music was being disseminated was through college radio stations. The Residents had been sending out copies of albums to hundreds of stations already but stations kept reporting that as soon as a record came in, somebody at the station would steal it and requests for additional copies seemed endless. To fight the impossibility of supplying radio stations, Please Do Not Steal It was created especially for college radio. Ralph Records hoped to play upon the conscious of the mortal human to not steal their records. Foolishly they were trying it with college students and the record became one of the favorite ones to steal. Please Do Not Steal It was never sold. About 1000 promotional copies were made. This is a limited edition reissue pressed on white vinyl.

Iggy & The Stooges
Metallic K.O.
'The notorious Iggy & The Stooges confrontational "last ever gig." 40th anniversary edition for RSD.
'METALLIC K.O.' is the remarkable album of Iggy & The Stooges confrontational 'last ever gig' (until their reunion almost 30 years later). Effectively the fourth Stooges album with then brand new and unheard songs, it was released in 1976 three years after 'Raw Power' while Iggy was in limbo. Soon after the gig Iggy checked into a mental hospital. The sound of kamikaze Iggy provocatively abusing his audience and then dodging eggs and bottles thrown by a biker gang enhanced Iggy's reputation in the embryonic punk scene as the Punk Godfather. Nothing like it had been heard before. It became a must-have album and far out-sold the first three Stooges albums, with sales of over 100,000. It is now re-issued with the original LP track list - previously it had been extended to a double-CD with the complete 1973 & 1974 shows it is taken from. In the 2007 re-mastering, an original tape-speed error was discovered and corrected - so now for the first time on vinyl the album can be heard at the correct pitch. The albumcontains Iggy Pop's story of the events surrounding the gigs as well as contemporaneous reports from Nick Kent, Giovanni Dadomo and Lester Bangs. An essential album for any Iggy fan! Nick Kent said: 'I'm convinced that side two is a masterpiece' and Lester Bangs said: 'It's the only rock album I know where you can actually hear hurled beer bottles breaking against guitar strings'.

The Valentines
The Sound Of
Limited Single Vinyl Album
The Valentines were an Australian rock pop band active from 1966-1970, and boasted a twin lead vocal attack, very popular down under with a sound somewhere between The Rolling Stones and The Easybeats. On lead vocals were Bon Scott, who later went on to great success as lead vocalist with AC/DC; and Vince Lovegrove, who subsequently became a successful music journalist and manager of the Divinyls. They first recorded for Clarion Records in 1966 as The Spektors then changed their name to The Valentines in time for the first single release a coupling of Arthur Alexander's 'Everyday I Have To Cry' and the Small Faces' 'I Can't Dance With You'. Their next release, issued in September 1967, was the unusual 'She Said', wherein The Easybeats provided Clarion with a rare composition. The Valentines later notably also covered the latters 'Peculiar Hole In The Sky' to great effect (it titled a CD on ACE of prime Australian Big Beat) . These Clarion recordings are a chance to hear the early days of Bon Scott in full voice, on classic material such as 'Gloria', on vinyl for the first time in some 25 years.

C86
Double vinyl edition of classic NME indie comp from 1986
Back in May/June 1986, the New Musical Express released one of their regular mail-order cassettes. Reflecting the latest trends in Indie music, C86 was a 22-track cassette which was inspired by the NME's C81 tape from half a decade earlier. Aside from a few name bands (The Pastels, Primal Scream, the Wedding Present, the Mighty Lemon Drops), most acts were relatively unknown beyond the back pages and gig listings of the weekly music press. A few hadn't even issued a record! C86 slowly but surely became the NME's best-selling ever compilation, selling an estimated 40,000 copies and eventually being reissued on LP and cassette by Rough Trade the following year. C86 prompted a week of shows at the ICA and would come to embody a whole musical style and era. C86 is now reissued on vinyl as a deluxe, gatefold sleeved double-LP edition. The music has been re-mastered, with better sound quality due to not being 'groove crammed', with picture inner sleeves depicting original artwork and photos and detailed sleeve-notes by C86 compiler Neil Taylor. This long-overdue reissue follows the spectacular acclaim which followed Cherry Red's 3-CD expanded edition of C86 in 2014. C86 is now widely regarded as catching the birth of a certain type of Indie music...

Todd Rundgren & Utopia
Disco Jets
1976 album never issued on vinyl before
Esoteric Recordings began a series of releases drawn from TODD RUNDGREN's extensive archive of recordings with the first stand-alone CD release of the DISCO JETS project, recorded in 1976 by TODD and his group UTOPIA, featuring JOHN SIEGLER (Bass, Vocals), ROGER POWELL (Keyboards, Vocals) and WILLIE WILCOX (Drums). The DISCO JETS sessions took place at Bearsville studios shortly after the release of TODD's "Faithful" album and was a purely instrumental affair recorded "tongue in cheek" with sights firmly set upon the current trends of the time such as the US Bi-Centennial celebrations, Disco music, Science Fiction movies such as STAR WARS and the CB Radio fad. Featuring some memorable soloing from RUNDGREN and POWELL, the impressive 'SPACE WAR' and the memorable cover of the 'STAR TREK' theme, the DISCO JETS project would languish in the vaults for several decades before appearing as part of a Japanese only compilation, now long deleted. The ESOTERIC RECORDINGS release of DISCO JETS has been newly remastered from the master tapes and is sure to appeal to all TODD RUNDGREN and UTOPIA aficionados.

The Runaways
Right Now / Black Leather
This rare and hard to find 7" is now reissued in translucent red vinyl limited to 1000 copies for the USA
THE RUNAWAYS! They were neon angels on the road to ruin. They loved playing with fire. They loved black leather. And they loved rock and roll. They originally formed in Los Angeles in 1975, when 16 year old drummer Sandy West met nascent Suzi Quatro acolyte and rhythm guitarist, Joan Jett, before approaching manager, producer, scenester and all-round Svengali figure Kim Fowley. The band was completed by fellow LA teenagers Lita Ford on lead guitar, bassist Jackie Fox and fronted by lead singer Cherie Currie. Signing to Mercury Records in 1976 for their eponymous debut, despite their mixture of hard rock and punk meeting derision from their male rock peers, they became a Beatles-esque sensation in Japan, resulting in the obligatory Japanese live album. Second LP "Queens Of Noise" in 1977 certainly cemented their punk credentials, but a row between Cherie Currie and Lita Ford led the singer to leave the band for a solo career in 1977, with Joan Jett assuming the role of lead singer and front-woman. After cutting a third album for Mercury in 1977, the four-piece signed to Cherry Red Records in the UK for their fourth and final LP, "And Now... The Runaways" in 1978. By now Joan Jett, Lita Ford and Sandy West were joined by bassist Vicki Blue, whose future accolades would include an appearance in "This Is Spinal Tap". Sandy West's sole writing and lead vocal contribution to the LP, 'Right Now', was chosen as a single, backed by 'Black Leather', a song written by the Sex Pistols' Steve Jones and Paul Cook. Shortly afterwards, the band split, with Joan Jett and Lita Ford each forging successful solo careers. The band have been subject of two films; the first was a documentary, "Edgeplay: A Film About the Runaways", but their story eventually reached Hollywood with the "The Runaways" movie in 2010, partly based on Cherie Currie's memoir of the band and subsequent career, and starring Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart.
