California based Groove/Latin metal band featuring Raymond Herrera (Fear Factory, Archaea) drumming on the track 'Revolution' as well as special guest Tony Campos (Soulfly, Asesino)on bass and Aaron Rossi (Ministry,Prong), Hector Guerra, Zero Elvuh, Ricardo Vignini (Stand Against Everything) and Silverio Pessoa and an array of producers including Raymond Herrera, Jeremy Blair, Logan Mader, Erik Reichers and Cristian Machado (Ill Nino). BLACK OIL, born as a political groove metal band originally from Brazil, are no strangers to sharing the stage with big acts like MEGADETH, FEAR FACTORY and SLIPKNOT and have been direct support for bands like SOULFLY, OTEP, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, ARCH ENEMY, CARNIFEX, ANTHRAX, CATTLE DECAPITATION, ASESINO and many more. Their original sound comes from a unique blend of cultures and years of experience. Guitarist and founder, Addasi Addasi has traveled well over thirty countries, picking up many styles and riffs along the way. All these cultures mix together to form very powerful political metal. Vocalist Mike Black brings his own originality with guttural growls and a defiant yell heavily influenced by the voices of Cavalera and Anselmo, yet retaining an originality that gives the band its own signature sound. With newest members Drew Petropoulos on bass and a especial guest for this album recording Aaron Rossi on drums all the pieces of the puzzle fit tightly. And loud. Their last release "Not Under My Name" was produced by Logan Mader (Machinehead, Soulfly, DevilDriver, Gojira, FFDP) and detailed the metal-samba mix that has become BLACK OIL's trademark. Songs from this album are currently in rotation on MTV Brazil and several radio stations in Mexico, including Hell Radio in Guadalajara, Mex. Whiplash.net, South America's #1 website for metal gave to their last album "Not Under My Name" its highest score and even compared it to the significance of SEPULTURA's "Roots," a landmark album in metal.
