"Boogie Woogie Cowboy" (Atomicat ACCD020) is our fourth Country Boogie excursion through hillbilly music culture. The music is an exploration of the tunes which laid the groundwork for the transformation in the music industry, Country, Western Swing, Hillbilly and Honky Tonk. The albums in this series will focus on tunes with a dance tempo, include some snappy foot tapping ditties and one or two unexpected songs to vary the sound. The album title comes from Eddie Cletro & His Round Up Boys who offers two recordings. The other artists include the phenomenal "Ramblin" Tommy Scott and an old timer getting pushed aside due to the music change Bill Boyd. The self-destructive Eddie Noack personality hindered his possible fame, singer and songwriter Joe Melson is introduced with two contrasting songs. Legendary guitar picker Merle Travis conveys a 1946 political issue with a vocal recording about soldiers returning home after WW2 1946. A trio of song thrushes grace the album, Bonnie Lou, Anita Carter, and Sandy Lee who each provide a different style of Western music. These are albums compiled by rocking people, for rocking people and one man's jive is another man's bop, and the music is here to be played not strictly categorised. The recordings are all killers and no fillers. The album is great to play at home and perfect for Dee Jays who will find good dance-floor filling songs.
