CHAOSSWORN was formed when the earlier version of the band, Cryptic Death (2004-2009), decided it was time for a change. With a new, more fitting, name Anton Johansson, Janne Posti and the brothers Andreas and Niklas Pelli set out to record their musical vision: death metal with tints of black, strong hooks and total passion. "Chalice of Black Flames", their three-tack debut EP, was released in June 2010 by Abyss Records, and has received great feedback from all over the world. In early 2011, Niklas moved to Stockholm, and Joni Salo took over the drumming duties.

Press Quotes
”Classy stuff in the same vein as Dissection. Sweden once again proves that we are the masters of melodic death metal”
—Dan Swanö
“The Swedes have achieved a high degree of proficiency and have released a convincing wave of brutal and melodic death metal with enough variety to be dynamic, without ever leaving the borders of metallic taste.”
—metallian.com
”As for this EP, the music here is fantastic, and well worth being tracked down. 5/6”
—Apochs.net
“The faster pace and riffing that focus more on sleek and malevolent melody, in turn creating a much more aggressive and fierce atmosphere, really does pack a punch. It feels a bit like mixing Dissection’s older material with a bit of Lord Belial, and maybe even a dash of Watain. It is definitely melodic, but with quite a keen sense of what’s catchy and adds energy to the music.”
—Phuling, Encyclopaedia Metallum
