This 3 CD set collects primarily pre-WWII 78 RPM recordings of blues, country, and folk music mixed with a number of tracks from the mid '40s into 1950 that all fit within the theme of the set. The sound as you would think varies--some tracks sound better than you'd think and others suffer from lower fidelity like a lot of records from that era. The 15 page booklet has an essay on this period of American music along with several period photos of a few of the performers along with some recording details for each track, where available
