CD digipak reissue of classic 1983 vinyl LP.
Containing 14 sizzling R&B rockers from the vaults of Groove Records, RCA Victor's legendary mid-1950s R&B subsidiary label. Rarities include two blistering sides by young guitarist Roy Gaines, five stormers by the Du Droppers including their relentless Boot 'Em Up, and blues harmonica ace Sonny Terry's rollicking Ride And Roll. Other greats on the set include Teddy ''Mr. Bear'' McRae, Big John Greer, Tiny Kennedy, the Five Keys with their rare rocker Lawdy Miss Mary, and the guitar-toting duo of Mickey & Sylvia. Groove utilized New York's hottest session musicians, including saxists Sam ''The Man'' Taylor and King Curtis and guitarist Mickey Baker. Full discographical info and rare photos included. Includes Bez Turner's original liner notes and the same eye-popping cover artwork that made the album, first out on Bob Jones' Detour label, stand out in its vinyl incarnation more than three decades ago.
