It was no surprise that Jamie Records started with a vocal group record. Situated in the heart of north Philadelphia in the mid-Fifties, it was inevitable. Our picture of Jamie has been skewed by the success of Duane Eddy and then Barbara Lynn, but from the outset until the end of the group era, Jamie issued some of the best - and until now some of the rarest - vocal group records ever to hit the streets.
Here's a total of 33 tracks from the mid-Sixties (Anthony & The Sophomores 'One Summer Night'), taking in some fabulous rarities along the way like the Heartbeats' One Million Tears and the Pentagons' I Wish On A Star. This collection provides the listener with a mere sampling of the Doo Wop goodies that await us in Jamie/Guyden's vaults. The artists are such unknowns as: The Inspirations, The Larks, Billy & The Essentials, but also groups such as The Pentagons, The Sharps, and The Five Chords some of the rarest Doo Wop recordings combined on one CD.
