Stan Kenton was never accused of thinking small. Not only did the man put together some of the biggest jazz outfits of all time, but he also sought with his "Neophonic" movement to establish contemporary resident jazz orchestras in major cities around the globe. His prototype, the Los Angeles Neophonic, played 11 concerts over three seasons before dissolving, and two of them, the first and third from the inaugural 1965 season, were expertly recorded and appear here for the first time. This double disc presents Kenton's last major composition, Opus for Tympani , along with seven other works, all in glorious stereo!
