For over 60 years, the distinctive voice of Mac Wiseman has thrilled, moved, and inspired listeners across the world. He has taken his music from small-town radio stations to Carnegie Hall. Everyone who has worked with Mac or seen him agrees with Nashville's leading session fiddler Buddy Spicher when he says, 'Mac Wiseman is without a doubt the Frank Sinatra of country music because he can sing it all - country, bluegrass, western, gospel, jazz. Nobody sings like Mac Wiseman.'
Bluegrass patriarch Bill Monroe once said that Mac Wiseman was 'the strongest singer I ever had'. Famed Washington DJ Don Owens, after playing a Wiseman single, dubbed him 'The Voice with a Heart' - a sobriquet that has stuck to this day. And once after Mac had played the prestigious Kennedy Center in Washington and was standing in the receiving line, a wealthy, richly-gowned society lady, offered him her white gloved hand and said, 'When Mac Wiseman sings, everybody listens.'
This collection presents, for the first time, 164 recordings on 6 CDs - all the classic Dot recordings from the early days, as well as all the Capitol recordings. Many of the great Dot singles appear here for the first time since their original release, in newly remastered sound with complete discographical information. Included too is an entire Capitol LP that has never been released before. The enclosed 76-page hardcover book by Charles Wolfe and Eddie Stubbs was compiled with Mac Wiseman's co-operation, and includes many rare photos and illustrations from his private files.
