The Swiss metal band MASQUERADE was formed in 2013. The early line-up included the brothers Michael and Marcus Seebach as well as Thomas Eckert and Devrim Akyuz. The latter left the band in 2014 and an experienced replacement was found in Gion Alig. The quintet was then completed with the addition of drummer Patrick Arnold. All band members of MASQUERADE earned their skills and experiences in other bands; Corruption, Corpus Domini, Taste Of Tears, Rätier, Gnosis and S.O.G. are only a few examples. The Swiss also aren't rookies when it comes to live activities; they were headliners, and supported both national as well as international bands, including Obituary, Weak Aside, Dustbolt, Sepultura, Ektomorf, Entombed, Legion Of The Damned, Napalm Death, Requiem, Omophagia, Cataract, Negligence, Mendeed, Necrophobic, Evile, Soul Demise, Sodom, Destruction and Cannibal Corpse, among others. MASQUERADE play technically sophisticated death metal, which features everything from old-school to modern metal. They offer blast beats galore, mid-tempo smashers, but also melodic acoustic parts. Intense hook lines, catchy riffs and breaks are signature elements of MASQUERADE's sound - as well as the strong voice of the charismatic vocalist Marcus. In his lyrics, Marcus paints a picture of a dystopian vision. Marcus holds a mirror up to every member of today's end-time-oriented society, and confronts them with their own ignorance, and the man-made destruction of nature and every living thing. Gion's sophisticated bass lines as well as Michael's and Thomas' powerful and perceptive guitar skills emphasize each song's atmosphere. Patrik's precise and well-versed drumming boosts the sound to the max. MASQUERADE is a well-oiled engine, and they wow their fans - old and new - with their powerful and authentic live shows!
