It all started on September 14, 1973, when Nas was born into the world. As the son of famed jazz musician Olu Dara, Nas's music creativity began at an early age. Nas, whose given name Nasir means "helper and protector," started showcasing his talents in the late '80s - early '90s. In 1992, he was discovered by MC Serch (of the then rap group 3rd Bass), who secured Nas a record deal with Columbia Records. In 1993, history was in the making when his debut album "Illmatic" was released. "Illmatic" quickly became one of the all-time favorite classics in rap history, gaining five mic from all rap critic entities. His career was catapulted and nothing but riches and fame to follow. Fifteen years in the game and he is still pushing through the doors of controversy and reviving hip hop to its glory of yester years. Nas keeps rolling and so do the hits.
