Hell is Sold Out (1951): World famous French author Dominic Danges returns home after being interred in a German prison camp during World War II only to find a beautiful stranger impersonating herself as his widow. Not only living in his home, the stranger has written a novel and is passing it off as the latest publication of Dominic's work. Boys in Brown (1949): An all-star cast spearheads this lesson in social realism. Jackie (Richard Attenborough) lives with his widowed mother and dreams of marrying Kitty, the girl across the street. In a bid to escape the poverty trap, he agrees to participate in a robbery, but when it goes wrong he is sentenced to three years in jail. There he meets various characters planning an escape, and although initially skeptical, he is persuaded by Alfie (Dirk Bogarde) to join the team. But what if their plan fails? Sea of Sand (1958): Gritty British action film following the operations of the Long Range Desert Group in North Africa during the height of WWII. The mission for the LRDG is to penetrate hundreds of miles behind the German lines and destroy a massive fuel dump. Lead by Captain Tim Cotton (Michael Craig) the small group of unorthodox commandos on the eve of a British counter attack, locate the enemy fuel dump and successfully destroy it. Inside the dump they discover that it is laden with enemy tanks they weren't expecting. They have to report to command of their find. While escaping the dump they encounter heavy casualties and loss of equipment including the radio they desperately need to communicate their find. Now the group has to make their way back to headquarters while being pursued by the enemy. The desert, unbearable heat and constant combat test their determination to succeed. Cinematography captures brilliantly the range of endlessness the massive desert presents along with the human emotion that the Sea of Sand congers. Michael Craig was nominated by the British Film Awards for Best Actor. Morning Departure (1950): On a routine peacetime mission, the crew of HM Submarine Trojan runs afoul of an electrically operated mine, leftover from the war. An unavoidable explosion sends the ship plunging to the seabed. Emergency signals are sent, and the Captain assembles the survivors to make an escape plan. Some can escape, but others will have to wait for the rescuers to arrive. Those left must struggle with fear and illness whilst the rescue team attempts to reach the vessel. To make matters worse, there is a storm brewing.
