Jean Paul Tamayo was born in Paris of Colombian decent and was exposed to Salsa music from a very early age. After singing with various salsa bands since 2002, such as Grupo Mango, Alfredo Cutufla, Alex Wilson, and Jim Lopez' La Nueva Edicion, Tamayo decided on putting together his own band in 2011. That same year he performed in several venues in Paris, and as a band leader shared the stage with one of the best salsa singers Herman Olivera at Disney village Paris. Tamayo then moved to Barcelona, where he put together a new group of musicians and began performing in venues such as Café Royale, Antilla Club and The Station. In July 2012, he was booked to perform at the Barcelona Salsa y Latin Jazz Festival along with legendary stars such as Ruben Blades, Eddie Palmieri, Larry Harlow and Havana D' Primera. It was shortly after this event he started recording his first project with a team of musicians based out of Madrid led by trumpet player and musical director Oscar Cordero. By mid 2013, the album completed and features Tito Allen - former singer of Conjunto Clasico, Tipica 73, Tito Puente, Louie Ramirez and Ray Barretto. This CD will be released during the first quarter 2014. This production will include 10 songs with arrangements influenced by traditional salsa from the 70′s Fania era.
