On this 2 CD, 49 track set featuring an outstanding cast headed by Jane Powell, Robert Merrill, Jan Peerce, Phil Harris, Maurice Chevalier, Jeannie Carson and Edmund Hockridge, a parade of Lerner & Loewe songs again bring back a plethora of thrilling music.
Broadway composers Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe were one of the most important song writing teams of the 20th century. Singing excerpts from four of their most popular musicals are a starry cast featuring Hollywood's Jane Powell, Phil Harris and Maurice Chevalier; Robert Merrill and Jan Peerce from the world of opera; and Jeannie Carson and Edmund Hockridge from Broadway and the West End. Included also are rarities - 3 "pop" recordings from Paint Your Wagon recorded by Tony Bavaar, who played "Julio" in the original 1951 Broadway production; and Selections from Brigadoon and the 1953 Ice Capades.
