Together with his band project, composer, music producer and keyboardist Ali N. Askin is releasing his latest album "Up Chute". Each of the instrumental compositions convinces with its own character and skilfully plays with the genre boundaries of jazz, electronic music and experimental music. Ali N. Askin was born in 1962 as the son of Turkish immigrants. After his school years, during which he played the keyboard in several bands and projects, Askin began his studies at the Munich Academy of Music, where he learnt composition with Dieter Acker and Wilhelm Killmayer, among others. One year later, the musician was a guest student at the University of Film and Television. Alongside his studies, Ali N. Askin gained experience as a composer, pianist and keyboardist as well as a radio presenter and editor. In the late 1980s, the composer also worked as a musical director for theatres, including the Residenztheater and the Münchner Kammerspiele. From 1991-1993, Askin assisted Frank Zappa on the project "The Yellow Shart" and continued to work for the Zappa Family Trust in LA after Zappa's death. In the following years, Ali N. Askin collaborated with Heiner Goebbels on projects such as "Surrogate Cities". As a keyboardist, he made guest appearances with various orchestras and theatres and wrote and produced radio plays for Bayerischer Rundfunk. In addition to music for theatre, Askin has arranged music and concert performances such as "Trommeln im Licht". Ali N. Askin has been nominated four times for the German Film Award for his compositions for film and television and received it in 2008 for the film "Leroy". In 2011, the musician finally founded his own band with which he performs his own compositions. Thanks to his multi-layered experience, Askin's arrangements oscillate between jazz, minimal music, funk, world and rock. His latest album "Up Chute" also impresses with its multi-faceted sound and takes listeners on a journey between jazz and electronica.
