Carnal Ruin are a four piece death metal band from Tampa, Florida. After self-releasing two demos, Immortal Domain (2018) and Gnosis of the Dead (2019), Floga Records took note and released a compilation consisting of both demos entitled Gnosis of Immortal Domain in early 2020. The band quickly went back to work and focused on creating their most ambitious material to date, effectively achieving a new level of intensity and brutality which resulted in a 4 song EP called The Damned Lie Rotting which we released in October of 2020. While that EP was a good precursor of what was to come, the band's first full length LP, Soulless I Remain, is a monster of a record that sees the band mature and really come into their own. Always drawing on their hometown roots, Soulless I Remain is an amalgamation of the Tampa death metal sound with additional influences ranging from Entombed, Grave, Unleashed, Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death, and more. This release brings in some early MeloDeath influence that creates an overall mood of melancholy and despair which certainly set Carnal Ruin apart from the extremely popular 'Primitive Death Metal' movement in the U.S.
