Chansons, movie soundtracks, cover versions, jazz, and bossa novas by Jobim, Bonf truly world-class entertainer, Caterina Valente is also one of the great voices of 20th century popular music. In the U. S. A. she appeared on television with Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Perry Como, and Dean Martin. She came by her affinity for Italian songs naturally: she was born in Paris to Italian parents.
Between 1959 and 1966 'La Grande Caterina' has recorded no less than 115 songs in her native language. This complete 4-CD edition contains all of those recordings, and... incredibly... more than 80 of them are previously unavailable on CD.
