He was eleven years old when he met larger-than-life bluesman Howlin' Wolf. The Chicago legend took good care of the kid and told him to listen to the music of Charley Patton and Son House, if he wanted to play the blues himself.
Today, Colin Linden is a singer and songwriter of great skill, a prolific record producer with credits including Lucinda Williams, Bruce Cockburn, and Colin James, and sideman to the stars as guitarist for the likes of Emmylou Harris and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Besides his solo career, for the past decade he's anchored the highly successful trio Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, whose 2011 release Kings and Queens earned widespread praise. Linden has a well-deserved reputation as a slide guitar virtuoso of real originality -- at last count, the total number of albums on which he has performed stands at over 300, while at least 100 albums bear the 'Produced by Colin Linden' credit.
Colin's songs have been covered by The Band (their comeback hit "Remedy"), The Blind Boys of Alabama, Keb' Mo', and Colin James, and his well-stocked trophy case includes eight Juno, multiple Maple Blues Awards, and a Toronto Arts Award. He was nominated for a Grammy Award for the star-studded A Tribute To Howlin' Wolf CD, and was involved in the ground-breaking O Brother Where Art Thou phenomenon. Still Live is Linden's twelfth solo album and his first live record after thirty years.
