Since their debut in 1999 on the cult label WORLD SERPENT, Dawn+Dusk Entwined have become something of heroes for fans of dark folk and dark wave sounds. After a break of several years, there was a first sign of life in April 2022 with GODWIN POINT, a side project of David S., and now finally the long-awaited new album of DAWN+DUSK ENTWINED follows: "When I die, burn me in the clothes of my youth". Musically, the morbid mood remains predominant, but alternates with analogue / electronic passages, creating an 80's soundtrack that seems dark folk and dark ambient, but at the same time, thanks to the voices of Patrick Leagas (Sixth Comm / Death in June) and Hélène, has a touch of PostPunk and reminiscence of the 80's DarkWave times.

Press Quotes

'Definitely already the best album name of the year! Without falling into too much nostalgia and romanticizing, there were these times around the middle to end of the 90s, when almost weekly very valuable records flooded the market through labels like Cold Meat Industry, World Serpent and also Projekt Records. These mostly in the area of neo-folk, dark ambient and atmospheric wave sounds. The French Dawn+Dusk Entwined left a small but fine trace in the meanwhile very blown away sands of time with their debut album on World Serpent, which oscillated between dark ambient and sacral wave. So what can one expect anno 2022? A record between a lot of spherical Dark Wave, which reminds me of the best moments of the Italians of Runes Order or the earlier years of Kirlian Camera, before they discovered the dance floors. A record that is much more open, poppy and danceable compared to the very early works of the French. Analog keyboards, lots of soundtrack-like John Carpenter influences are pointed with snippets of ambient, classic dark wave and post-punk, all on a very high level over just under 44 minutes. Exciting guest contributions like that of a Patrick Leagas from Sixth Comm in the beautifully elegiac, but also thematically very dark, between neo-classical and minimal PostPunk drifting 'Promises to Keep', while Helene Carpentier should refine 'The Earth is my Church' and 'Brumes'. David S., the mastermind behind the project, has a pleasantly dark, unagitated voice, which comes into its own in songs like 'She came from the East', which is very reminiscent of Runes Order or Trisomie 21. Minimal structures, drum patterns, which harmonize with dense, very melodic synth pads, revive those old times without making anything seem yesterday. The wintry bouncer ' Never Learn' sums up this record with classic rapturous dark wave beats again perfectly and brings it to the point! The dystopian, very current video is additionally highly recommended. A nostalgic departure, which musically brings together the best years of this style with the most important references and friends of such at the time very creative bands like Runes Order, the early Kirlian Camera, Frozen Autumn or also the Cold Wave of earlier Lycia or Morthem Vlade Art loved, will have his joy with all the analog electronic sounds and romantic wistful atmospheres. Dark Wave, as it can hardly be heard today and thus clear recommendation-a nice album for the dark season.
