Deleted Scenes play delicately psychedelic indie rock that is both moody and energetic, possessing a keen sense of doomed humor. They have been gaining notice on the east coast for their live intensity and undeniable songcraft, playing over 100 shows, and releasing a self-titled EP that Delusions of Adequacy called "easily one of the best purchases you'll make all year." Their just-finished debut album, Birdseed Shirt, capitalizes on the EP's stylistically diverse pop, but expands to include a palate of odd-time grooves, dubby textures, and ghostly arrangements. Painstakingly recorded over the last year with the help of J. Robbins (Burning Airlines) and Lynn Skell (The Rude Staircase), Birdseed Shirt vibrates with color, instilling what the Washington Post's Aaron Leitko calls an "autumnal stoner vibe." Dan Scheuerman's irony-rich lyrics seek the small truths of white lies-exploding gestures, miscommunications, and malapropism into stark statements on intimacy and its lack.
