The basis of the compositions is essentially provided by the group's creator, Timothée. He will seek his influences from very diverse groups such as Coldplay, Billy Talent, Paramore, PVRIS, Fatherson, Radiohead, Tall Ships or even Placebo. This is how he manages to produce pieces that are both effective, melodic and ultimately very personal, just like his approach to the bass. However, each member of the group will bring changes and personal touches.
Jillian, for the solo parts, finds her inspiration in particular with virtuosos such as John Petrucci, Joe Satriani or in the modern instrumental music of Polyphia, Chon etc. However, it is also imbued with Metal from the 80s and 90s such as Iron Maiden or Metallica, which is something in common with Romain and Théo. It is in this vein that he will seek powerful and striking guitar flights, both melodically and technically speaking.
Romain, for his part, likes to bring a touch a little more ambient, plunging the sound of the guitar into reverberation or echo. This approach is drawn from music such as post-rock Russian Circles, Sleepmakeswave, God Is An Astronaut, while assuming heavier influences such as Iron Maiden or modern like I Built The Sky.
Théo works on several complementary aspects on the drums : power, groove and regularity. It is by working on pieces of Metallica, Muse or even Clutch that he will forge his playing marked by rigorous power and incomparable rigor. From Dominic Howard to Ringo Starr, via Jean-Paul Gaster and Stewart Copeland, he puts his groove at the service of a percussive rhythm.
It is for all these reasons that the band's music, although a coherent whole, does not seem to cling to any specific style or sub-genre. Sometimes at the border of Pop, then at that of Metal before returning to a more traditional Rock to finally assume an Eelectro part, Desert Dew defines itself as alternative Rock because ultimately, forges its own identity.
