Eamon McGrath is celebrating a year of digital singles and globe-trotting tour dates with the release of Exile, a full length vinyl collection of his songs from the past 12 months. Captured in a live off-the-floor recording by Rob Higgins (Change of Heart, Dearly Beloved), with McGrath’s trademark howl and ballistic youthful energy on full display, Exile is a collection of nine songs by a modern day troubador whose voice has never sounded so mature. Peter Dreimanis and Danny Miles (July Talk) play lead guitar and drums respectively, while Clay Jones (Styrofoam Ones, Beneath Augusta) holds down the low end. From the REM-style indie rock of “Enduring Love” to the mid-80s inspired rocker “Bitter Ends,” in which McGrath channels his punk rock roots with a nod to The Replacements and Husker Dü, Exile documents five friends playing loud, playing fast, and playing like their lives depend on it. McGrath kicks off the launch of Exile with September tour dates in western Canada and October dates across continental Europe (many together with Dearly Beloved).
