Not all soldiers are equal. For the most part they are unwelcome. But there were always those who were welcome, forinstance to free a country and its people from the reign of megalomaniac criminals. As did the American soldiers who -in the mid-40s - had been sent to Germany where some of them had to stay for years. There were strange connections between these young men and parts of the female population: men, far away fromhome - women hoping for a better future to come.
Loneliness and the lack/loss of emotions on both sides, caused by thewar. Friendship, love affairs. And disappointment. In these days a special kind of songs became very popular; songs that were played in clubs, at dance-hops and bymany radio stations; songs that made both, men and women, forget the workaday world.
