BOWIE2001 the CD is an odyssey within itself: A brand new collection of David Bowie tracks spanning his vast discography, re-imagined & re-mixed by Fritz von Runte. BOWIE2001 the DVD is a new re-edited version of Kubrick's masterpiece 2001 melding a classic film with songs you love showcasing both in a new & exquisite piece of cosmic choreography which, woven meticulously, complements the visuals & tells a new story. A supersonic musical piece synchronized with a intergalactic film creating the transcendent experience of BOWIE2001 - A Space Oddity. Produced, edited & remixed by Fritz von Runte
After remixing the Beatles' album "Love" of Cirque Du Soliel and an album digitally rewired Lilly Allen tracks in 2009, British electronic sensation Fritz Von Runte returns with his most daring endeavor to date. Von Runte has collaborated with the Stanley Kubrick estate to re-release his own uncut account of the visionary science fiction film "2001: A Space Odyssey", with a score of remixed David Bowie songs. Von Runte's version of the film serves more as an eclectic mix of music videos rather than a film, but still provides a surrealistic viewing experience for anyone interested in Kubrick's original work.
The soundtrack is an odyssey within itself, blending David Bowie's current sound that infuses intriguing Radiohead influenced electronic sonic landscapes with his traditional raw guitar-driven sound. Von Runte spares no expense in raiding the vintage Bowie catalogue from front to back by excavating classic tracks such as "Ziggy Stardust", "Heroes" and a hypnotic rendition of the surrealistic seminal song "Space Oddity". Von Runte's eccentric mix blends sounds that aren't typically associated with Bowie's music, such as trance beats or electronic sampling; it's a testament to Bowie's ability as a musical chameleon that ultimately makes this record accessible.
