By 1968, Gordon Lightfoot was coming to terms with stardom and changes in the music world. His third United Artists album, ''Did She Mention My Name'', was produced in New York by John Simon, who had previously produced Leonard Cohen and the Band. The songs include a commentary on the 1967 Detroit riots, Black Day In July. Late in '68, Lightfoot returned to Nashville for the more acoustic sound of his fourth UA album, ''Back Here On Earth''.
The 24 tracks here present the entirety of Lightfoot's third and fourth albums plus the New York remake of Spin, Spin. Other Lightfoot classics on this set include Does Your Mother Know, Bitter Green, The Mountains And Maryann, and I Want To Hear It From You.

Press Quotes
''2 50 year old slices of Lightfoot on one disc where the worst you can say about the songs is that some of them are dated, even if the sentiment is intact today. Pure prime stuff that wrapped up his studio sessions for UA, there's one each here produced by John Simon and Elliot Mazur, both of which were in the middle of their prime years as well. The kind of stuff that legends are forged from, this is a magnum opus of his early years and hits the target consistently and has basically aged like fine wine. Killer stuff you don't have to strictly be a folkie to love.''
