'Checking In' bounced out the speakers with a lush authority reminiscent in places of Chick Corea at his most romantic. What's striking about Burk, though, is the extent to which he likes to work round the drummer, sometimes in measure versions of Latin metres, sometimes bordering on free. Moses is an able teacher in this area and seems to revel in Burk's themes.
