After 16 years of co-leading the ground-breaking European large ensemble JBBG - Jazz Bigband Graz German saxophonist / flutist Heinrich von Kalnein steps back and heads in a different direction. Together with Brazilian guitarist Emiliano Sampaio and his award-winning Meretrio he developed an airy and timeless sound blending Jazz, Brazilian melancholy, traces of classical music as well as 90s Indie rock. On "Passagem" von Kalnein concentrates primarily on his first love, the flute. Next to some intriguing originals the four deliver an intimate rendition of Antonio Carlos Jobim's master piece "Zingaro - Picture in Black and White". In this way the Euro-Brazilian quartet presents a very unique music spanning different genres as well as generations.
