Absolutely unafraid to be big, loud and a little complicated, History was created out of dissatisfaction of their musical directions of the past, and wanting to create a harder, more progressive sound that challenges their abilities and your attentiveness. Featuring members of My Hotel Year, Sound the Alarm and New Roman Times, they love to make people clap during breaks in a song before it's over, and more so, the crowd reaction when they realize it isn't. History have taken influences from artists as varied as Yes and Rush to Helmet, Hum, Quicksand, Modest Mouse, At the Drive-In and even a little Black Sabbath. Heck, they even have a flautist and two keyboard players, but they don't sing about faeries or make synth-pop dance music. Just pure inspired technical math pop rock. Yeah! FOR FANS OF: Helmet, At the Drive-In, Modest Mouse, Jawbox, Black Sabbath

Bonus Materials

  • If it's keyboard-splashed indie rock with a D.C. undercurrent you're scouring for, History provide a textbook definition. - Alternative Press
  • It’s a great sound they have. The keyboard and flute that back up vocalist Melissa Parker brings to the band gives them a warm edge that offsets the stark riffs underpinning the record. -New Noise
  • It provides both the frenzied excitement of calculated hardcore and the pumping, thumping heaviness whose legacy is at the root of pretty much any decent hard rock and heavy metal, all with more than a touch of madness. - Rock n Roll

Sales Points

  • Influenced by Helmet, Handsome, Shiner, Jawbox, Hum, Weezer, Classic rock, and stuff, ya know the usuals, and maybe some of the not so usuals like Journey, Adult Swim, Nintendo, Guitar Hero, coffee, Vitiamin Water...
  • FOR FANS OF: Helmet, At the Drive-In, Modest Mouse, Jawbox, Black Sabbath, My Hotel Year, Rush
  • History have performed or toured with Helmet, Nakatomi Plaza, These Arms Are Snakes, Smoking Popes, Inkwell, Planes Mistaken For Stars

Press Quotes

...the trade-off boy/girl vocals recall punk for grownups of Versus or the Pixies.

...angular guitar riffs with a mean, disctintive distortion...

     —Outburn Magazine

This punchy quartet know their uhh, history, keeping a weather eye on the future & melding grooving post-hardcore thunk of Quicksand & Helmet with artful latter-day Dischord influences and swooshing electronics to help cushion the blow.
