The Hutchinson Andrew Trio is a unique voice on the Canadian Jazz Scene. Over the past 10 years this acoustic piano based trio has been bringing their own Western Canadian sound to the Canadian jazz landscape. The Trio is comprised of bassist Kodi Hutchinson, pianist Chris Andrew, and drummer Karl Schwonik. They were honoured to be joined on their sophomore album "Music Box" by Canadian Jazz legend Ralph Bowen on tenor saxophone. "Music Box" was released in January 2008 and climbed the jazz charts across Canada. The trio also earned a 2008 Western Canadian Music Award nomination for Outstanding Jazz Recording for the disc.

The Hutchinson Andrew Trio's music can be categorized as contemporary acoustic jazz. They mix elements such as contemporary swing, latin, and acoustic groove to help form their own distinct sound. Kodi and Chris list artists such as Robert Glasper, Brad Mehldau, David Kikoski, and Kenny Werner as some of their influences.

Ralph Bowen helped to bring a sophisticated sound for their second album. Known for his work with Horace Silver, Blue Note's OTB, and 1994 Juno award winners "Free Trade", Bowen brings a new dimension to the trio’s sound. Ralph appears on nearly half of the album. He adds a new layer to the group’s original compositions. His virtuosity and intensity have raised the bar from the trio’s first release, which was well received by both jazz fans and critics alike.
