Savoy Brown founder and blues rock legend, Kim Simmonds, is known for his fiery and heavy blues rock guitar playing and singing.

His career started in London, England in 1966 and he eventually moved operations to the USA in 1980. Simmonds still tours extensively with Savoy Brown and his albums consistently still appear on the Billboard Blues Charts.

Simmonds also had a solo recording career, showing off his lighter side of acoustic guitar playing, singing and song writing. "Struck By Lightning" is one of those recordings. Considered by many to be a highlight among his five acoustic solo albums, this 2004 studio session recording shows off Simmonds' blues playing in a refined acoustic band combo setting.

The twelve tracks cover plenty of musical territory. There are nine self-composed tracks, two classic blues covers from Peetie Wheatstraw and Arthur Crudup as well as a remake of an NRBQ song.

"Struck By Lightning" was recorded in Simmonds' own White Cottage Studios and each song reflects a truly personal side of this great international artist. The album will now be available, as a full release, on all digital platforms, and will be a wonderful treat for fans of Kim Simmonds, Savoy Brown and acoustic blues lovers around the world.

Kim Simmonds, co-founder and guitarist of Savoy Brown, has died at the age of 75. The news was confirmed today via the band's official social media pages.

"Please note one of Kim's last requests was to thank the fans of Savoy Brown," they said. "Your support was and shall always be immensely appreciated."
