LASTWIND is the band of former Sonic Assassins and Hawkwind member Paul Hayles. Paul was a former member of The Sonic Assassins whose first 12" E.P 'Free Fall' was released by Flicknife in the early '80's. It was one of the names Hawkwind used in those late '70's days when the name was being fought over by various ex-members of Hawkwind. The Sonic Assassins also featured Dave Brock, Harvey Bainbridge, Robert Calvert and Martin Griffin. Hayles, Bainbridge and Griffin were members of Ark before forming the Sonic Assassins and then going on to be the new Hawkwind. This new album called 'Return Of A Sonic Assassin' features drummer Ken Pustelnik of The Groundhogs, bass player Hugo Morgan of cult stoner band The Heads who did sessions for the John Peel show three times, guitar player Latch Manghat of Gonga and lead guitar player Sol, a very well known and respected session guitarist. All the songs on the album are new and have never been released before. Hawkwind fans will recognised the quality of the songs, production and mixing.
