When Louisiana Red came to England for the first time in the 1970s there was excitement in the Blues community - the man was a big-time legend. Although he spent many of the succeeding years in Europe, he kept his legendary status because he never lost his talent and creativity. He kept writing songs and wrung every ounce of stylistic freshness and originality out of Blues guitar. Equally important, his live shows were something to behold. A trifle eccentric sometimes' Heck, he was a musician... This album - made in 1990 - was born of an idea of label boss John Stedman who had recently cut a Hubert Sumlin session and included a couple of tracks old-style, with just two guitars and drums. Could work for Red. Things were set up when guitarist Richard Studholme announced he could get Jon Cleary for the session. Time to replace a good idea with a great one... Jon's New Orleans stylings fit perfectly - has he ever been recorded better' So, here's Red with a great band and a bunch of original songs playing and singing at the top of his game - a lovely groove throughout. A standout session in Red's impressive discography.
