Lucky Peterson is one of the most versatile Blues musicians on the scene: a blazing lead guitarist, fantastic organist and a first-class singer. He plays contemporary Blues, fusing Soul, R&B, Gospel and Rock and Roll, gaining a reputation as one of the most preeminent performers of the modern Blues era. Lucky was discovered by the legendary giant of the Blues; Willie Dixon when he was a mere three years old, released his first record by five. Trained by keyboard wizards Jimmy Smith and Bill Dogget, Peterson went on to play behind Blues and Soul artists like Little Milton and Bobby "Blue" Bland. He signed with Alligator Records, releasing two albums, 1989's "Lucky Strikes!" and the following year's "Triple Play." The 1990s were a very prolific era for Peterson. He released four albums with Verve Records: "I'm Ready", "Beyond Cool", "Lifetime" and 'Move," as well as collaborating with Mavis Staples on a tribute to Gospel singer Mahalia Jackson, called "Spirituals & Gospel." At the beginning of the new Millenium he recorded two albums for Blue Thumb Records, "Lucky Peterson" and "Double Dealin'", Inking a deal with Disques Dreyfus in 2003, he recorded one of the finest albums of his career: "Black Midnight Sun.""You Can Always Turn Around," also on Dreyfus, released in 2010, featured ace Woodstock musicians and is an uplifting portrait of a man at the Crossroads who speaks of struggles and salvation, using the coarse lucidity of acoustic Roots-Blues with modern touches as a musical vehicle. The album was awarded the prestigious "Grand Prix du Disque" as Blues album of the year and was nominated by the Blues Foundation for the Blues Music Award in the category "Best Acoustic Blues Album 2011."Between 2004 and 2010 Peterson released half a dozen albums on UK-based JSP Records. New Yorker Magazine has called Peterson "A master of the guitar, organ and microphone".
