"Conduits" is guitarist Matt Panayides' second sonic creation as a leader featuring his compositions performed by an outstanding group of musicians that have been shaping this music through performance. The tunes on this album are filled with freedom and spontaneity demonstrating the "here and now" that can be found within deep musical structures. This set of music is comprised of earthy grooves, modern harmonies and melodies that are in turn angular, haunting, playful and joyful. With space for the musicians to stretch out and improvise, they also weave seamlessly through intricate passages as a cohesive unit with a relaxed, fluid feel. The natural world is a theme that runs through these compositions, at times reflecting the underlying order that can be found in complex natural objects while at other times obscuring it. Conduits was recorded live at Bunker Studios in June of 2014 with saxophonist Rich Perry, bassist Thomson Kneeland and drummer Mark Ferber. It was funded through the successful completion of a Kickstarter campaign. Matt Panayides has been busy leading groups around the world for the past 15 years.
