The MNEMONISTS are a legendary group of composers and artists from Fort Collins Colorado, who create ambiguous unsettling soundscapes. They have a bizarre working method, which perhaps explains their startlingly original sound. Starting off by recording a mainly acoustic ensemble playing live, they subject the resulting tapes to real-time processing, while simultaneously adding more live sounds. Layers and layers are then built up and assembled into the frightening sonic resonances that we hear on Gyromancy.
