Based in Houston, the Moving Sidewalks were a psychedelic garage quartet that existed during the second half of the 1960s. The group famously featured singer-guitarist Billy Gibbons and drummer Dan Mitchell prior to their forming ZZ Top. Inspired both musically and conceptually by Roky Erickson and the 13th Floor Elevators, the Moving Sidewalks' sole full-length album Flash was released in 1969 by Tantara Records. Other members who appeared on the album were bassist Don Summers, keyboardist Tom Moore, and multi-instrumentalist Isaac Costa. In 2013, Gibbons announced the reformation of the original lineup of the band, and they performed headlining shows in Austin, Houston, and New York City. Liberation Hall's reissue includes the non-LP bonus single "99th Floor."

Press Quotes
If one band deserves to be more than just a footnote in the annals of rock, then it's surely the Moving Sidewalks. Primarily known as Billy Gibbons' group prior to his forming ZZ Top, The Sidewalks melded blues to psychedelia and their one and only album, Flash, had an influence that far outweighed its sales. This loving reissue adds their debut single as a bonus cut and should serve to expand the band's notoriety.
—Peter Dennis, The Midlands Rocks
While their existence is no secret, this album, which holds the majority of the group's output, has never really grown into a must for collectors or even gathered a cult following.
—Joseph Neff, The Vinyl District
This prime early example of Texas psychedelic/blues/rock will have fans of late '60s/early '70s bands of this musical ilk loving this, which includes the non-LP bonus single 99th Floor for it is a wondrous prime example and unmistakable sound from the era
