This release heralds another important development for Trapeze, in that we have established a joint venture relationship to represent the catalogue and new releases of The Mustangs, a band who have established a substantial following on the British blues circuit. Based in south east London, The Mustangs built a formidable reputation by appearing at numerous festivals up and down the UK over the last couple of years, including many of the highest profile events such as Colne and Maryport. The release of this album coincides with their 2011 appearances at the Swanage Blues Festival and Isle of Wight Boogaloo Blues Weekend in early October, the latter on the main stage. The Mustangs are no ordinary blues band. All their material is original, and is, they say, music inspired by the blues, and not simply a succession of standard 12-bars. Their albums reflect their stage show - punchy, melodic and entertaining - and featuring the dynamic presence of singer/guitarist Adam Norsworthy alongside the veteran harmonica ace Derek Kingaby, with Ben McKeown on bass and Jon Bartley on drums. This long-established line-up has been working successfully for eight years or so, and the band has built a catalogue of five previous albums, for which Trapeze will be taking over the marketing, sales and distribution. Previously with Blues Matters' Cross Border label, the band are looking to develop their UK and international profile and reach a wider audience through the new deal with Trapeze, which will also give them access to the US market. The band's 'live' work will provide on ongoing platform for a solid programme of promotion and PR, especially on local radio, which will build on their already considerable following, and ensure a ready demand for this album from day one.
