Ricky Lawson, the Detroit drummer and composer, is best known for co-founding the jazz-fusion band The Yellowjackets. He won the 1987 Grammy Award for Best R&B Instrumental Performance for the song And You Know All That. Ricky started playing drums at the age of 16, carrying his borrowed Uncle's drum kit across town on the bus. It was a humble beginning for this session musician who went on to collaborate with artists like: Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Whitney Houston, Steely Dan, Babyface and others.
