This is the seventh of a fascinating and important series of blues DVDs from Blues Archive and JSP. Featured is Texan blues guitarist Sherman Robertson who was then a rising star who captivated audiences with his flamboyant and high energy performances. He learned his trade with zydeco legend Clifton Chenier in the 1980's followed by spells with Rockin' Dopsie and Terence Simien. In 1990, he was signed to Indigo Records by producer Mike Vernon. A pair of fabled albums followed. As did an appearance on Paul Simon's Graceland album. Too little of his work has been committed to disc, which makes this presentation all the more important. This DVD was recorded in 1999 in Chichester, England. Renowned for powerful live performances, Sherman is at the top of his game on a night of storming electric Texas blues. His soulful singing and blistering guitar playing leaves us with a fitting and lasting testament to a superb blues artist who always plays with total 'blues feeling'. Texas blues doesn't come much better.
