With "Reflections", Silent Opera are able to launch their second melodic death gem and thus manifest that they have worked on themselves immensely since their debut "Act One" from 2010. The French present themselves as much more multi-faceted, multi-layered and dynamic on their follow-up album and create an overall composition characterised by contrasts, which lives from epic beauty and brute attacks of rage. The characteristic sound of the death-lead formation is characterised above all by uncompromisingly whipping, razor-sharp riff attacks and the crystal-clear soprano of vocalist Laure Laborde, who creates a melodic-morbid sound construct in combination with Steven Schriver's demonic growls. This delicate balancing act of yearning, sensual melancholy and aggressive hate tirades succeeds extremely well for the combo and is also reflected in the nine strong tracks, which are all convincing all along the line.
