Introduction. Suddenly I find myself writing an introduction for the tenth - tenth! - edition​ - of a compilation series that was itself created as a punctuation mark after a year of events and releases that took everybody in the trance world (including myself) by surprise. The whole 'Pure Trance'​ movement started life as a kickback against the dilution of the trance scene​,​ instead aiming to celebrate and be proud of what first drew so many to the genre's flame. Now 11 years on​, ​Pure Trance has ​established itself as a its own bonafide scene ​in the ​ world of Electronic Dance Music - ​hosting festival stages and events on all 5 continents, boasting 4 record labels​ that have given a platform to countless new talents, a weekly radio show with a devoted listenership​ of millions, a worldwide community of fans that have become friends and this critically acclaimed compilation series that has now reached its 10th instalment. The number 10 seemed a sort of punctuation point, which is why I decided to take the reins of this 3-disc landmark edition and ​curate, compile and mix the whole thing alone. Why 3​ discs? I wanted the trio of discs to represent what one of our Pure Trance events sounds like - the flow of the thing, and to be a kind of rationale for the existence of the ​labels: Pure Progressive, Pure Trance, Pure Trance NEON & Pure Breaks. So... we have the deeper sound on Disc 1 (Pure Progressive) leading to the dreamy sound on Disc 2 (Pure Trance) and the harder sound... well, you get the idea, I hope it makes sense to you. Maybe it is all self-explanatory​ and you only care about what it sounds like - that's what this is all about after all, right? It's all about celebrating the sound of Trance Music - the journey, the emotion of it. And this is of course why Pure Trance exists.
