For years Lucky Peterson would tell anyone in the record business who'd listen that he had one of the best contemporary female blues and soul singers just sitting at home ready to grab her chance and 'get out there' whenever she was given the opportunity. Well, they wouldn't listen. Their loss! Tamara Peterson is a singer and performer of real talent. Ally her to the ultimate musical multi-tasking of husband Lucky and this is a team that stands up there next to the best. Tamara's singing skills were honed first in church and then in the Dallas/Fort Worth blues clubs where only the highest standards are tolerated. Since this album was cut the wider world has seen quite a lot of her - she's hit the road and has worked up to playing the big festivals. There's every sign that people like her!! And note too that she is a fully 21st Century blues singer - there is funk, soul and more than a nod also to a mainstream sensibility. Lucky: Oh yes, just about the best guitarist on the scene currently who also happens to be just about the best keyboard player as well. The voice is magnificent and when he records for me there's no 'softening', no attempt made to 'go commercial'. It's hard and tough like it used to be in the old days. This album has benefited from a great team who put it together. It began with Bruce Feiner's enthusiasm for Tamara and Lucky and his determination to serve them with not the 'same old same old' but to be creative and edgy. Everyone else who has been involved has followed that idea and that includes the magnificent creative contributions from Mr & Mrs Peterson themselves. Shall I be the first to label them the new 'King and Queen of the Blues''JOHN STEDMANAn original JSP Recording
