The Roberts family heads out from Athens by ferry to the island of Paros, where they explore the islands by catamaran. Off the island of Antiparos, they snorkel, dine with the locals, and explore the tiny island of Despotikos with its newly excavated Temple of Apollo. After an overnight on the catamaran, it's back to Paros to explore the ancient churches and twisting white-washed sugar-cube homes and alleyways. Then they head to Santorini, where they stay in a villa perched high on a volcanic cliff, explore the jumbled maze of narrow streets that are built into that cliff's side, ride donkeys, and take a boat out to what is left of the volcano...a barren wasteland of lava rocks piercing the bay and still smoldering in some places. Known for its vistas, Santorini is famous for the sunset view over its blue-dome churches, so the Roberts take a bus to check it out. Then they end their adventure by enjoying Santorini's black-sand beaches and a plate-smashing festival set to wild Greek music and dancing.
