Trio da Paz received a GRAMMY nomination for "30" in December 2016 in the very competitive "Best Latin Jazz Album" category. Trio da Paz is, Romero Lubambo, Nilson Matta, and Duduka Da Fonseca, all Brazilians based in New York City, they first met in 1985, each developing brilliant careers as some of the world's most recognized Samba Jazz artists, both individually and as a group. "30", their anniversary album and ZOHO debut release, enfolds elements of Brazilian samba and bossa nova, bebop, Wes Montgomery, third stream and even free improvisation into their signature sound. Romero's urban gypsy melodies and percussive chording, Nilson's firm yet flexible baselines and Duduka's rhythms which, whether surging or simmering, are always energized - flow fast and inseparably over the course of 30. In a program of 9 Trio da Paz member originals, and their incandescent take on the Baden Powell classic "Samba Triste", the band wastes no time glancing back, but celebrates the past as a way to get to what's now and what's next. For New York area audiences, Trio da Paz has been well-known for its twice-a-year weekly residencies at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, the city's premier jazz club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, for many years.
