In recent years, the USC Wind Ensemble has performed before the College Band Directors National Association (2015 and 2013), the American Bandmasters Association (2014 and 2010), and the South Carolina Music Educators Association (2017 and 2012). In addition, in March 2012 the ensemble toured the People's Republic of China, performing sold out concerts world-wide. In addition to this disc, the ensemble has two other critically-acclaimed CD's available worldwide. American conductor Scott Weiss is the Sarah Bolick Smith Distinguished Professor of Music at the University of South Carolina where he conducts the USC Wind Ensemble and teaches graduate conducting. Equally at home leading both symphony orchestras and wind bands, Weiss maintains an active international conducting schedule, including recent concerts world-wide. Scott Herring currently holds the position of Professor of Percussion at the University of South Carolina where he directs the USC Percussion Ensemble and the Palmetto Pans Steel Band. In 2012 the USC Percussion Ensemble was named a winner of the Percussive Arts Society International Percussion Ensemble Competition and performed at the 2012 Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Austin, TX. John W. Parks IV, Professor of Percussion at The Florida State University, holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, Northwestern University, and Furman University, and has studied with Patricia Dash of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, John Beck of the Rochester Philharmonic, Michael Burritt, Paul Wertico (formerly of the Pat Metheny Group), and John Beckford.
