After the album "Das Flammenmeer" released in 2021, Bavarians Valosta Varjoon are now back with the new album called "Boarisch Grattlig". The project is now a little more on the rock-heavy side than it's predecessor "Das Flammenmeer", which mostly took the influences of the typical melodic Black Metal from Finland. The songs are mainly in German or in the Bavarian dialect and overall deal with alcohol, sex, misanthropy and myths/legends from the Upper Palatinate region. The opener "Beervaria" is a love hymn, as the name suggests, to the band's homeland and beer. BMATW is the only song in English language and the shortest song on this record and should be a middle finger to people in general. With "Der Hammerwurf" follows a song about a legend from Neumarkt, which is reminiscent of the old albums and the melodic sound of the old days. The title track follows with "Boarisch Grattlig", as the name suggests (Bavarian Antisocial) it's about alcohol and antisocial behavior. With a socially critical song called "In This World" comes another melodic piece that leads to a lot of variety in the album between melodic Black Metal and a kind of Black'n'Roll. At "Bierdimpfl" V.V. deals lyrically with a self-experiment during the pandemic period which failed miserably, as can also be heard at the end of the song through an inserted sampler that he probably recorded himself. In "Die Nacht Der Lust", the focus is less on the melody and more on Rock'n'Roll, so this song is also about "Sex, Drugs, Rock'n'Roll". Another sample gives an idea of what this song is about. Last but not least, the song "Derarme Ritter" closes the album, which again melodically and in the end even melancholically rounds off "Boarisch Grattlig". All in all, the album is varied and has something for every lover of (Black) Metal and punk. A musical pleasure-maker for the summer, for the beer garden season and for a beer while having a barbecue, that's "Boarisch Grattlig" by Valosta Varjoon.
